Relationship XLIV – “Save your Kisses for the Saturdays of Summer”

Collage Relationship XLIV was completed and left on Sunday 7/22/2012 on Rue Jean-Pierre Timbaud in the 11th arrondissement in Paris, France.
While staying in Paris for the weekend and visiting the Montparnasse Cemetery, this collage was made using the back side of the LP “Exitos del Verano”.

I collected most of the material as trash from the streets of Paris during my visit there. – Notably, a small post-it message to Charles Baudelaire I found beside his grave. (note: I purposefully selected this particular item because it had already been blown off the grave slab and was likely to blow farther or be picked up as trash.) It says (in French) “For Charles, The greatest poet in the world. With Gratitude” – it is signed but I can’t quite make out the first name. The last name is “St-Jean.”
Some other notable items I picked up and used include: a police notice of car impounding (in triplicate), a fake leaf, the edge of a small black frame, a lottery form, a Pringles chip seal, several flyers, our receipt for some Rainier Cherries we bought on Rue Daguerre, and some multicolored short lengths of yarn (I actually saw a girl drop these on the ground near the Eiffel Tower).

The main phrases in this piece say: “Save your Kisses for the Saturdays of Summer”
“Supershopping Party prescription for ladies and animals!”
“Do not use in cribs, carriages or playpens.” (from a large plastic bag used in product packaging).

This, my 44th collage, took about 6 hours to complete and kept me up until after 6am, leaving me with about 2.5 hours of sleep for the long Sunday ahead.
